Over age 65?
Let's protect your good health.
Let's put your health first.

Retirement, new hobbies, new adventures, and new routines require good health if they are to be enjoyed to the fullest. Stay tuned to this page for opportunities to learn, engage, and make progress on key health topics for patients over age 65.

Staying Well

All patients should schedule an Annual Wellness Visit here at our office. It's not a physical — that means no gown! — but it is just as important. You and your clinician will explore changes that may be occurring as you age including your risk of falls, your cognitive function, a depression screening, and more. We'll also review your medications, specialists, chronic conditions and new concerns or problems, which you might not get to discuss with your doctor at a regular sick visit. Call today at 610-363-0100 to schedule this important check in.

Changes in Hearing

Hearing loss can begin or worsen as you age, and those who leave hearing loss unaddressed can experience faster rates of social decline (isolation, depression) and cognitive decline (such as dementia).

To assess your hearing status, we recommend an appointment with an audiologist. Check out the presentation below from our 2021 Senior Health Night, and give Dr. McCandless a call for a hearing evaluation today.

Balance can also worsen as you age; we recommend both exercises to strengthen and improve your balance, as well as smart home changes to accommodate you and reduce your risk of falls.

Changes in Insurance Coverage

If you're approaching age 65, you're getting ready to think about Medicare and the role it can play in helping you afford medications and care. Navigating your Medicare options can be challenging and overwhelming.

As a patient of Christine Meyer, MD and Associates, you have free access to an independent broker who will personally assist you in understanding Medicare options, so you can select a plan with confidence. Whether you are a Medicare enrollee or a caregiver, a one-on-one meeting or phone call with our broker can help you understand eligibility, the differences between each Medicare plan, and prescription coverage (including minimizing your out-of-pocket costs). Learn more on our Medicare page here.
